informix-list distribution and Usenet gateway
Posted in 1994
A number of systems are being relocated at Emory University, and the process of moving them may affect the distribution of the Informix mailing list. It will definitely affect the gateway that transfers list messages to/from the Usenet newsgroup comp.databases.informix. I had thought that all systems would be moved during the week of Dec 26-30. Apparently, some are being moved this week. So, for the rest of the month, if you notice any anomalies in mailing-list distribution or gatewaying, you should probably wait a little longer than usual before worrying. The system rmy.emory.edu is not one of the systems being moved, so the operation of informix-list itself should not be affected. However, the system that runs the gateway to comp.databases.informix is being moved today. In fact, that system is down as I write this. When you read this message in c.d.i, the gateway should be back up (though perhaps not without problems at first). Sorry for any inconvenience and for the notice after-the-fact, but I thought that the relocation wouldn't start happening until next week. If you have any questions, or notice any really strange problems, please let me know.
