7.23 UC4.....
Posted in 1998
OK boys.....
Anyone had a tour of duty on 7.24 UC 4 / HPUX 10.20 yet?
My 7.23 UC4 caused a couple of dodgies:
Avg. 5 assert failures a month.
***Inability to ontape to disk a file bigger than just over 2Gb - really
useful.
Fix: "Install 7.24 UC4" so i'm told- so tell me, is this going to fall over
every few minutes if I go ahead and upgrade?!
==============================
As for the mirroring thread:
I run a K450 c/w 7.23 UC4.
The best bit:
Model 30 (Data General rebadged) array c/w dual FC/AL 100Mb/s fibre cards.
Seems fast enough to me!
I use RAID 1/0 groups for the OLTP / overnight batch db.
Raid 5 for static 4ge and general binaries.
(All hardware controlled mirroring - takes load off my CPU, which is then
freed up for fragmentation).
Fragmentation, in my case, seems to lead to a higher CPU utilisation spike,
but for a much shorter period of overall time. (2 million row table).

run.
