Vinnie- You can save about $1600 by using IDS-Workgroup rather than SE. Any of IBM's business partners will get you additional discounts. I ran the numbers from IBM's website: 1 IDS WE Server $305 9 IDS WE Concurrent Session $1,539 1 ISQL Development $675 1 4GL RDS Dev. $1,125 9 4GL Runtime $3,375 ------------------------------------------- $7,019 I couldn't find the 4GL debugger, but you should have that number with your current quote. Either way, it is in your best interest to buy through a partner like Kazer, etc. Also, if you already owned software licenses, you should just need to buy support for them not replace them. --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: BigVinnie [mailto:BigVinnieRocks@gwhizmail.com] > Sent: Saturday, January 14, 2006 11:32 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Informix Licensing and Pricing Schemes. > > I finally received a quote on buying new Informix software. Either way, it is in your best interest to buy through a partner like Kazer, etc. Get ten quotes. You'll likely get ten different prices, as very few people within or without IBM understand Informix licensing.
