Also sprach Rich Moldovan <moldovan@mmsi.com> : :Danger is my business....... :I have read the admin manuals and I realize what I am doing is :_WAY_ out of line under normal circumstances. I would still like :to try. I need to change where the DB is looking for the chunks. What you are attempting is not possible through the sysmaster tables. They are read-only, period. If you want to live on the edge, you could always hack into the system reserved pages and change the pathnames in the chunk pages. If you have to ask how to do that, then you shouldn't even try (no humor intended here). You break it, you bought it, etc. The easier fix would be to link the old device name to the new device you want to use. Of course, if you didn't use a link in the first place, it might be tricky. On a lot of boxes, changing the scsi id of a disk will cause its device name to change. You could possibly swap the scsi ids for the current disk and the disk you want to use. An archive taken before the switch can be applied after to restore the system. You do realize that just "swapping the chunks" without a restore from archive will put the swapped chunk into a Down state, yes?
