Informix does not place temp tables in /tmp, at least Online and IDS do
not (I don't remember SE's behavior well enough), and you do not specify
what version of Informix 7.? you are using. IDS places temp tables in
the following hierarchy:
Logged temp tables (including implicit and explicit temp tables without
the WITHOUT LOG clause):
DBSPACETEMP - if any of the listed DBSPACES is NOT a tempdbspace
ROOTDBS - otherwise
Unlogged temp tables:
DBSPACETEMP - if set to one or more DBSPACE.
ROOTDBS - if DBSPACETEMP is not set.
Temporary sort-work files during sorting:
PSORT_DBTEMP - if set to a list of filesystems or directories
DBSPACETEMP - if PSORT_DBTEMP is not set
ROOTDBS - if neither of DBSPACETEMP or PSORT_DBTEMP is set
DBTEMP is an old 4.xx and 5.xx Online variable which define where to
place temp tables instead of ROOTDBS since there were not tempdbspaces.
It is no longer being used by IDS versions 6.xx and later.
