Hi there,
You can certainly load ASCII datafile(s) into table(s) of
Informix database. For better performance you should turn
database logging off (if your database have logging). Use
isql command (load from ascidatafile" insert into mytable)
assuming your database and mytable exist and ascidatafile's
record-fields are pipe separated.
ex:
I) ascidatafile format:
|abc|Apple|Nguyen|123 Address|San Diego|CA|92121|nguyen@ans.net
II) Your table is created by
create table mytable
(
u_ser serial,
login char(8),
fname varchar(30,10),
lname varchar(30,10),
addr varchar(50,30),
city varchar(30,10),
state char(2),
zip varchar(12,5),
email varchar(30,20)
);
III) Also look at your serial key, uniq indexes, database logging status,
your logical logs size.
good luck,
