I try to connect to an IDS 10 on a linux from a windows client with the
iLogin demo but I can't. (error -908)
The configurations files on the server are:
linux sqlhosts file
demo_on onipcshm fedora1 demo_on
demo_on_tcp onsoctcp fedora1 demo_on_tcp
/etc/services
demo_on_tcp 1527/tcp
and on the client are (via setnet32)
sqlhosts file
demo_on_tcp onsoctcp fedora1 demo_on_tcp
/etc/services
demo_on_tcp 1527/tcp
I've disabled windows and linux firewal, tried to put options on both
sqlhosts (r=0,s=1) - putting an entry for the hostname in /etc/hosts.equiv -
but I still can't connect.
Have anyone any idea? Have to load a proccess on the server side first
before connect?
thanks
Can you do the following:
1. On the client:
Confirm you can ping fedora1 by name.
2. On the server:
Set $INFORMIXSERVER to demo_on_tcp, run dbaccess and connect ok
3. On the client:
Try putting 1527 instead of demo_on_tcp in SQLHOSTS
On the client, by sqlhosts file and /etc/services I assume you mean:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/Online/SQLHOSTS registry key
and %windir%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services
Regards
Guy

thanks for answering,
I did what you suggested :
1. ping fedora1 from the client and it answered
2. dbaccess from the server (after setting INFORMIXSERVER=demo_on_tcp) and
it was worked
3. yes. the services file and sqlhosts file are the ones you mentioned with
the difference that the sqlhosts is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Informix/SQLHOSTS/demo_on_tcp registry key and
that the sqlhosts file is being managed by the setnet32 utility with which I
make the entries
But, the iLogin demo continues not working
Any other idea?
