PowerScript and/or Informix proble -254

Hi, I am experiencing a rather disconcerting problem using PowerScript ( PowerBuilder ) and Informix ( v5 online ). I am getting SQLCODE = -1 and SQLDBCODE = -254 errors which don't seem to make much sense. The statements that they bomb on will SOMETIMES work fine, so I don't think the syntax is wrong. These have occured in a couple different scripts. It seems that the connection is killed, but I'm not certain about that. We have been banging our heads against the wall on this one so any info would be gratefully accepted. Thanks Pete P.S. Please reply by email.
