Re: UPDATE STATISTICS Problem

Rajender, we get error -567 (cannot write sorted rows) It seems that you have an space problem with creating the sort files in temperory dbspace. If you have a problem with the tempdbspace or sort dbspace I would the following (on NT and 7.30) set the parmaeter ; DBSPACETEMP=tsort1, tsort2, tsort3 PSORT_DBTEMP=e:\\psort\\psort1, e:\\psort\\psort2, e:\\psort\\psort3 (Ensure that all the psort are spelt correctly, I had wasted atleast one day trying to find out why it is not working reason posrt2) create the following : temp dbspaces tsort1, tsort2 and tsort3 with the required space. empty directories psort1, psort2 and psort3 on e: drive with enough space on that drive. Note : you could create only one temp space or just one sort directory however, it is recomended that you do it with 3 temp dbspaces and 3 sort directories to get better performance (parallelism/fragmentation of temp tables and files) It works for me, so it should work for you. ____________________________________________________________ Sunil Thakkar (sunil0@hotmail.com) Informix DBA Last seen: Consulting at US-AirForce, Texas. _____________________________________________________________ There is always a simple way of solving complicated problems. ----Original Message Follows---- From: rajsingh@hotmail.com (Rajendra Singh) To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: UPDATE STATISTICS Problem Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 19:27:18 GMT Reply-To: rajsingh@hotmail.com We're having many problems with "update statistics" on our Informix SE database v 7.24. One of the problems we're having is that whenever we do an "update statistics high for table x", we get error -567 (cannot write sorted rows), with ISAM code 24 (too many open files). I tried increasing the "nfiles" (max number of open files) parameter in the (HP-UX, v10.20 on a G50) Kernel by 1400, but that didn't help either. There is alot of free disk space, and usually there is only one or two users on the machine. We've also tried rebooting. Does anyone know of a solution to this? I've checked the FAQ, searched Usenet, and the web but didn't come up with anything. -- Mr. Rajendra Singh, B. Sc.
