This is being posted from a friend's account. Can anyone replying, reply to me, kcj@walrus.com. My news server is not working. I have a very strange problem with a C program using ESQL-C (ver 5.0) and C-ISAM (ver 5) running unders SCO 3.4. The SE is version 7.1. I have a very simple program that reads a C_ISAM file, and inserts the values of each record into a row in a table. It runs fine from the command line and even as a detached process. No problems. The program could hardly be more simple. Just a loop with a read (ISAM file) and insert into (db table). However, when invoked from cron it gives the following error: Error 408: Invalid message type received from sql process. I've tried all sorts of things... like accessing another ISAM file but always get this message when the program is run from a cron job. I need to run it from cron as I must run it at night and it takes about 30 minutes. I have all the environment variables set correctly in the batch file invoked by cron. In fact there are a number of programs that are invoked from the same batch file. These all access the same database and ISAM files but are straight SQL statements. It's only when run from a C program I seem to have a problem. Any pointers? Thanks in advance, Kate Juliff
