SE 7.2 , Sorted rows problem

Hi, When I run a query thro' an application in VB or COBOL , I get a -567 "Cannot write sorted rows" error. The query is a select statement retrieving a large number of rows . I set DBTEMP in my env. to "/tmp" or some other directory on a file system which has space and permissions , still I get this error. However , I do not get this error if I run the application as "root". I do not get this error if I run the query in DBACCESS as any user or root. Any thoughts ????? SE 7.2 running on ScoUnix Ver5.02.
