This can be caused in several ways a database server crash on an non-logged database, a machine crash, a disk crash or damage, overlapping chunks (Infomrix tries to prevent this from happening but it does not resolve file name aliases like links so it is possible). What to do about it? Check out each possibility. Is the database logged? Did the server or machine crash recently? Are there two chunks that use filenames that are aliases for the same disk/file/device (ie /dev/dsk/file01 & /dev/rdsk/file01 are the same device if they have the same major/minor device numbers)? After eliminating any physical causes try the oncheck command recommended in the assert message: oncheck -pt 2120316 the report will even tell you what database and table are affected. Art S. Kagel
