RE: Does C api come with Informix-online?

I am by no means an expert but I have been successful at implementing the Informix CLI. CLI appears to be a bundled ODBC solution to Informix. It resides on most of the popular Unix platforms as well as Windows NT. If a simple C call level interface into Informix is what you are after and ESQL/C is not for you then try the CLI. A caveat is that in our performance testing we have found that CLI over the network to an Informix database is running a consistent 20% slower and subsequently is providing 20% less throughput (very preliminary numbers no tuning). From what I can tell these numbers are essentially insignificant and Informix will most likely make CLI run faster as it matures. I am considering using the Netscape Enterprise Server/Informix-online package to service a web site. Up until now I have been using mSQL with CGI scripts written in C. This is a least-common-denominator solution and in my opinion it is still the best solution to web/database connectivity. So all I want to do is replace the mSQL C-api calls with Informix C-api calls. I DO NOT WANT to use the LiveWire javascript stuff nor do I want to use ESQL/C or any other such tools. In my opinion these tools hinder portability and complicate the development process. Does a basic C-api (C library) come with Informix-online? If so is any info about it on the internet? Also, does an Oracle database ship with a basic C-api? Thank you very much for any information you can provide.
