Hi All,
I am running IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC5GE
I get this error:
26453: Fragmentation is not supported in this edition of IDS.
When I try to create this table:
create table access_point
(
ckt_id integer not null ,
tid_id integer not null ,
aid char(20) not null ,
pm_capable char(1) not null ,
dir char(1) not null ,
acc_pt_id serial not null ,
seq_num smallint not null ,
insvc_date date not null ,
upd_date date not null ,
primary key (acc_pt_id) constraint uniq_acc_pt_id
)
FRAGMENT BY EXPRESSION
PARTITION part1 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 0) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part2 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 1) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part3 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 2) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part4 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 3) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part5 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 4) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part6 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 5) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part7 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 6) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part8 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 7) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part9 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) = 8) in metrodbs1,
PARTITION part10 (MOD (ckt_id, 10) =9) in metrodbs1 extent size 70500 next
size 70500 lock mode row;
Does anybody know why? This works fine in my 11.10 instance.
Thanks,
Jeff
You are running Informix Growth Edition (indicated by the "GE" at the end
of the version string), it does not support table fragmentation. See this
link for Edition feature availability/restrictions:

You're using Growth Edition. That's one of it's limitations. Previously it
was called Workgroup Edition

Ouch. Thanks for the info, guys. - Jeff
Hi Jeffrey,
For customers who have been grandfathered with the entitlement to use
Parallelism on Growth based on their existing entitltements on Workgroup
(where they had previously purchased parallelism features ) , they will
need to use a config variable to turn on the usage.
So it is possible to have parallelism (PDQ) using the Growth edition
that you have (11.70.FC5GE) by positionning an environment variable
before you bring your engine online. Check with your sales rep for
possibilities in your case to see whether your are entitled to it or not.
