INFORMIX SQL - Inserting caracter LF

It=B4s
possible to insert a LF character or another non-printable =
character using insert into table (literal) on a varchar column.
Something like this?
insert into tablename values ('xxx^Jxxx')
I cannot use bind variables.

There's a stored procedure - ifx_newline() IIRC - which permits you to
write strings with newlines in them.
Then write your string with a newline in it.
If LF != NL, then simply put the LF into the string...
