Informix Storage Manager

I'd like to have some pointers on setting up the Informix Storage Manager, shipped along with IDS 7.3. Our platform is IBM RS 6000 with AIX 4.3.1. The "Informix Storage Manager Administrator's Guide" is almost entirely for managing ISM from the IECC interface of Win NT, with just passing references to the Unix command line utilities. The release notes has a shell script set-up procedure for ISM. The "ism_startup" program in that script seems to be the one giving me problems. The output from the shell script is given below: ISM setup begins Database selected. 4 row(s) loaded. Database closed. initialize ISM server, must be done as root start_ism is starting the ISM daemons. ${0##*/}: Still waiting for ISM daemons to become available... ${0##*/}: Still waiting for ISM daemons to become available... start_ism: ISM server not running after 2 minutes and 30 seconds. give test user ISM admin permissions, must be done as root ism_add: RPC error, Program not registered create and mount ISM devices and pools ism_add: RPC error, Program not registered ism_add: RPC error, Program not registered ism_op: RPC error, Program not registered ism_op: RPC error, Program not registered nsrmm: RPC error, server is down nsrmm: RPC error, server is down end of ISM setup Is there any other manual written for the Unix user?
