dbaccess and onmonitor ? problem ?

we just received several new HP's with HPUX 10.20 and Informix 7.2 (we had HPUX 9.05 and informix 5.2) we can run dbaccess fine on the new systems. the problem is onmonitor runs, but the arrow keys don't work and the screen doesn't clear correctly when starting. it happens for both a vt100 and hp TERM environment. i tried with and without setting the TERMCAP variable anbd it doesn't seem to matter. why would dbaccess work (all keys work) and onmonitor not?
