I've downloaded Art's utils2 from the IIUG but unfortunately I don't have the ESQL/C compiler, or at least I don't think I do! Is there a way of calculating this with SQL/4GL I'm about to start using the work sheet in Carlton Doe's "INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server Handbook" but there are a lot of tables to look at ! -- --------------------------------------- Tony Flaherty aef@mfs.misys.co.uk Analyst Programmer Misys Financial Systems All statements and opinions are my own, Misys don't pay me enough to have opinions on their behalf .

If you have C4GL 7.20 (or later I guess) you have a fully functional ESQL/C compiler built in. So just c4gl -o myschema myschema.ec. Early versions of 4GL used their own ESQL compiler with a different parser that was not fully source compatible but that has been resolved and the newer 4GL has the same parser as ESQL/C 7.2x. BTW you can get the SDK 2.20 or SDK 2.10 for most platforms for free for download from Intraware anyway so.... And yes there are lots of ways to get the extent size you need. Just peruse the myschema.ec source to see how I'm performing the magic. Also several scripts using SMI tables are available in the Repository and in the CDI Archives. Art S. Kagel
