Informix 7.11: Optical / Blobs and shared memory usage

Hi, We are currently trying to move blob descriptors from one table to another without rewrting the underlying data. The INFORMIX ESQL/C manual illustrates a method involving descriptors (SEE ESQL/C Programmers Ref Manual pgs 7-38ff) When executed the program does copy the blobs without writing to optical but allocates an 8 meg shared memory segment every 18,000 records.... Has anyone seen this type of behaviour? Any guesses? Any Hope? John Wysocki Northrop Grumman Corp
