Percentage of Marketshare based on revenue? I'd rather see it based on licensed sites. If I charge twice as much as my competitors then of course I'd show improved market share. (Not saying that this is true of Oracle but I'd be interested in knowing if the revenue figures include connectivity middleware dollars as well?) That said ... knowing that a data base division of a vendor is doing well (ie producing a healthy revenue stream) is a good indication that the vendor will continue to pump dollars into R&D and the product will grow for the better. -- Brian Capstick ------------------------------------------------------------------------- tkyte@us.oracle.com (Thomas J Kyte) wrote: >tbas@sybase.com (Tony Basoglu) wrote: > >>tkyte@us.oracle.com (Thomas J Kyte) wrote: > >>> >>>Oracle 42.5% >>>Sybase 19.7% >>>Informix 16.5% >>>CA/Ingres 4.8% >>> >>>IDC October 1995 >>Thomas, could you please give the context to these numbers.
