Backups to multiple tape: Problems

I am currently doing Online 5.0 backups to 2 Gig tapes, and they are filling up. Is there a way to cause the backup to move to a second tape drive when the first one fills. Also, I have found that when the first tape fills up, Informix seems to hang for all users until the second tape is inserted and the backup continues.
