Informix SE 5 Connectivity

Hi. We run a callcenter telephony switch that runs Informix SE 5.X engine. I would like to query the rdbms using free software like Linux + Perl DBI/DBD. Is this feasible with such tools ? Because this is a relatively old engine. Also, I cannot connect via the SDK's ODBC drivers (Win 95)because they don't support 5.X db's. Where can I get them ? Any suggestions for those 2 questions, links to infos etc... ? Thank you ! Nick
