Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
John Caron asked how to produce XML from Informix SQL. Colin Bull and Jonathan Leffler suggested the IIUG sqlcmd utility with -F XML, noting its output is only approximate XML without the header, DTD or wrapper tags. Uri Haham suggested the genxml UDR. John asked whether genxml works on IDS 7.x; no answer in the thread.

Good afternoon all,
Anyone have the syntax of a resource with the syntax to create xml data
using Informix SQL ?
Thanks,
John

sqlcmd -d DATABASE -FXML anyold.sql
-- anyold.sql
Select * from customer ;
You will need to install the sqlcmd program if not already loaded. This
available from IIUG.

Or:
sqlcmd -d DATABASE -F XML -e "select * from customer"
No need for trivial little files...
(Also note that it is not quite strict XML output - the XML version
information line, the DTD information, and the wrapper tags (eg
<sqlcmd_query_result> ... </sqlcmd_query_result>) are missing. But it is
a reasonable approximation to XML. Patches to improve it (SQLCMD in
general, XML output in particular) are always welcomed.
Thanks for the plug...
