RE: Are logs any use in a no logging database?

I hate to rain on the parade, but this is not entirely correct. IF you use
OnArchive to perform your backups, or you want to be able to perform a
selective (dbspace) restore from ontape, you DO need to have had your
logical logs backed up.
To restore a dbspace from ontape (in the 7.x realm), you need to have the
logical log backups to apply during restore. The same holds true for
OnArchive. Logical logs are needed if you ever have to perform a restore.

1. No!
2. Writes always occur to the log for certain commands (moslty all
update/alters/creates). It will write to the log, yet if your log is
point to /dev/null (that's like never never land) no real write occurs only
disk access. Yet the eninge does count it as an write!!!! It does in
otherwords access /dev/null. If I'm wrong! the expert's will pipe it in
right.
