Data space reclaim

It is my knowledge that in IDS - extents that have been added to a table are not removed/released when data is deleted. That being the case, how can you re-claim the space after you've deleted hundreds of thousands of records? Our production system can not utilize an "alter index to cluster" - Are there any other options? Terrence Mullins Sr Database Administrator WagerWorks.com
1. Save
table schema -- I use myschema.
2. Unload data -- through SQL unload, onunload, or HPL.
3. Drop table.
4. Make alterations to first / next extent as needed.
5. Create table
6. Reload data.
7. Create indices and other table objects.
8. Update statistics for table.
