dbspace lost

Platform: Everex 486 running Interactive 3.2 and Informix Online 4.00.UE1. Recently, we took a power hit that caused some damage to our file system. Specifically, the device file Informix writes to was lost. Should I reinstall Online or can I just re-create the device file? Also, our Stallion boards (3.0)do not seem to be working--no log-in prompts for remote terminals. I removed the software and re-installed with no luck. I also had to re-make the /dev/null device file. Gee, should I just re-format the SCSI drive and start over? I am not very familiar with this system, so I just don't know how to best approach solving these problems. We use Back-Ups 600 for our UPS--no auto-shutdown installed.
