Call me "Mr. dbexport" today. I suspect the customer is referring to dbexport, which is a utility
that comes with the engine that will create a set of files on disk (or directly to tape). The
files are a doctored sql script that does the CREATE TABLE and LOAD statements, and a set of
pipe-delimited files containing the data that the LOAD statements can read. There are too many
options to predict exactly what the export will look like. I doubt if the files could be used to
load another SQL DBMS.
Ask the vendor to detail how they plan to export, and the relavent pages from the manuals on how
to load it (and don't tell anyone in our docs group that I said you could photocopy manual pages)
