Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Can someone PLEASE help? This problem keeps arising and I cannot get away
from it?!?! With Informix ESQL 4.1, I keep getting error -258,
"System error - Invalid statement id received by the sqlexec process."
during a $PREPARE statement.
I cannot give the code because they are simple statements and the error occurs
during complex situations that take forever to figure out.
Here's one of many examples:
$OPEN CURSOR lalala
$CLOSE DATABASE
$DATABASE /tmp/my_database
$PREPARE my_prepare FROM "SELECT * FROM my_table"
This example shows a cursor that was NOT closed before a database was closed.
This scenario causes Informix to return the error -258 on the final PREPARE
statement. (It took days to figure this scenario out) I am getting this
same error in different situations and it seems like this is Informix's
fault???
Any words of wisdom?
