Problem with Informix Logspace (urgent)
Posted in 1997
Hi everybody ! (I'm new to this group).
I've got the following problem with Informix 6.0 running on Solaris2.5:
To avoid a 'Long transaction aborted ...'
i added a new chunk to my rootdbs (200 MB).
Then i tried to add new logspace using the following two methods:
(i've got to mention that i changed the LOGSIZE parameter in the
ONCONFIG file recently from 1000 to 20000 (KB)).
1. 'onparams -a -d rootdbs'.
This went ok and used up 20 MB in my new chunk.
2. Using 'onmonitor' im 'quiescent'-mode. Curiously enough
onmonitor only shows the old LOGSIZE value (1000 KB)
and adds logspace in sizes of 1 MB.
First question:
Is 'onparams' reading a different ONCONFIG-file then 'onmonitor' ?
Second question:
Why doesn't onmonitor show the new logfiles ? (according to the manuals
they should be displayed with an 'A' for 'Added').
After that i created a level-0 archive using 'ontape -s -L 0'.
Now the new logfiles should have an 'F' according to the manuals,
but still no logfiles show up in onmonitor.
How can i persuade Informix to use the new logspace ?
Any hint would be appreciated.
