There are several alternative ODBC's of course. There is some description of these in the Informix FAQ (look at http://www.iiug.org). If you use VB 3.0 remember to use SQLPASSTHROUGH to get any performance at all. I haven't install VB 4.0 yet but there are supposed to be a lot of new functionallity when connecting to server databases.
