UNIX (what variant) or NT or WIN95 (grin ;) ). 1) Is INFORMIX to be the Database only or will you be using one of their programming languages? 2) Character Cell application - Informix-4GL - Try Kathy Kipp's books. If you are a programmer the first part may seem a bit elementary, sorry Kathy - no harm meant it's just the nature of these type books, but the even the Advanced 4GL book from Informix Press seems a bit junior for long time 4GL programmers. 3) GUI development - Informix NEW-ERA - I'll let someone else suggest a book since practically no one (READ HAS NEVER HAPPENED) in Cincinnati area has used this tool. 4) N.B. You can use many other visual development products (Visual Basic, Visual Cafe Pro, etc.) and attach to an Informix DB using ODBC/JDBC or Informix's new fangled (released last year) VB or Java toolsets. (Can't think of the products name off hand - must be getting old). Anyway if you provide some/all of this information back to the group I'm sure they will fill up your library with suggestions....
