Writing Shell script

I want to read the following fixed file and check the first character and then output the rest of the information in a file. How would I do this using ksh shell script? Following is the input file: A9673456967-3456TESTING I The output file should look like this: 9673456Y967-3456YTESTING I Then, I want to use the ISQL command to load the output file into a table. I am a beginner in writing shell script and this is something I need right away. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. RUchi.
