To the anonymous emailer at Informix. If marketing has changed their tune, then send me some e-mail. If you are refering to the half baked idea that is being bounced around, send me some e-mail and I'll explain what and why it will fail and you will end up doing more damage than good. The really funny thing is that if and when Informix ports, it could be a really good thing. Basically a win/win/win situation. (Yeah two wins for Informix and the third win is for us.) Remember that Linux is a tool and should be used as such. Informix can actually port products to Linux, and without any major sales, still make it a profitable situation. (Yeah, there is *one* scenario which allows for this.) Asside from all of this Informix has to market itself to the Linux community, as well as to the public. Just building it and relying on word of mouth will not achieve any measurable results. But hey, what do I know. Its not like I did the number crunching or anything? Now that Diane is back in the office, have her give me a call. She might learn something of value and it may save her a lot of time .... -Mikey (I'm not mental or anything, just insane...;-0 ) BTW, since I'm outside of the IIUG, I *can* be more explicit in my explanation. -- #include <std_disclaimer.h> /* Mike Segel (MS385) */ #include <No_Spam.h> #ifdef OFFENDED_BY_CONTENT The author takes no responsibility for this post.
