RamDisk tempdbs boot script for Linux
Posted in 2014
Not really a problem thread: Jonathan Smaby tried to share a Linux boot script that creates a RAM disk and decompresses a gzipped cooked-file dbspace into it, for use as Informix temp dbspaces. His first post arrived as unreadable garbage because the attachment didn't survive the IIUG list. He reposted with a download URL (hosted at Pomona College) and offered to email the script as plain text; another reader confirmed the link worked. No technical discussion of the script itself followed.

Jonathon, I am not sure how this showed up on other peoples e-mails, but this is what mine looks like. Well, That just didn't work. :( So much for attaching a file to a list message. Jonathan B. IIUG Community, Sorry about the last message. Let's try this again. Below is a link to Pomona College's Web-based file server with a boot-script for Linux operating systems running Informix. This script takes assumes you have created a compressed (gzip) file from a dbspace file in a cooked file-systems. It will setup a ramdisk and then decompress the file into the specified file path for your ramdisk. If for some reason this file doesn't pass the IIUG list's spam filters, please contact me directly and I would be happy to email you the script at a text document.
