Data General, both M88K and Pentium based systems, the KAIO is not implemented in the OS kernel, but Informix tried to implement KAIO threads themselves. AIO VPS outperform KAIO on these platforms. But as the Boer says, on every other platform of which I am aware, KAIO outperforms AIO VPs. On Linux this may or may not be true, we will have to wait until we have a working version to see. Art S.
