Defunct processes

We are using Informix SE version 5.0 with Informix 4GL version 4.x. Whenever we execute a informix application process using the "RUN" command, we get a defunct process coming into the process table. Can any one shed any light on it ? Our application is such that a small c process takes control of the keyboard and the terminal (using IPC) and this process talks to the informix application. (This made us change our runner subsequently. ) Our unix version is SVR4.0.1.2 sampath@netcom.com
