I recently obtained Informix-SE and when loading the stores7 database
the table catalog isn't created. When running he esqldemo7 the
following message is given:
"...Based on the server information in sqlhosts, the database engine
does not support the data types varchar, text and byte, so the
table "catalog" has not been installed."
In fact it isn't installed, and the server as defined in etc/sqlhosts as
"demo_se seipcpip bhgaea.nibh.go.jp sqlexec" .
While running dbaccess if I try to explicitly create the table catalog
with the sql commands
create table catalog
(
catalog_num serial(10001),
stock_num smallint not null,
manu_code char(3) not null,
cat_descr text,
cat_picture byte,
cat_advert varchar(255, 65),
primary key (catalog_num),
foreign key (stock_num, manu_code) references stock constraint aa
);
I get following error message:
"554: Syntax disallowed in this database server"
Can anyone shed any light on this type anomaly?
