I just tweeked some plconfig settings because after using the product for over 3 years I thought it may be time to read about it - I got our load times to improve from 4 meg per second to ~30 meg per second. Loaded a 16,677,699 row table with a rowsize of 426 bytes in just under 4 minutes. We got a honking (technical term) new server with 128 virtual cpus or whatever - so I upped my NUMCPUVPS, CONVERTTHREADS, CONVERTVPS, STRMBUFFERS, and AIOBUFFERS and now I am thinking I may get that Nobel Prize I have always deserved...
Well.... Some years ago I messed around with plconfig on an old server... I got a marginally increase in performance, nothing that would cover for the work I developed. But I never had a 128 cpus to work with :) So I get gess that although I tried first you deserve the price much more than me :) Regards. I am just wondering if awesomenesdicity is also a technical term. As for the Nobel prize, I think I deserve it more for working with you back in the down systems group days. (-; Dan
