DBMONEY kills network access?

Hi Informixers, in the process of upgrading my old Informix environment to the newest versions (7.20 frontends, IDS 7.30), I've come across a very strange behavior: The database server is still running Online 5.10, while the application server is already running 4GL 7.20 programs. I changed the user's environ- ment settings appropriate for the 7.20 runtime environment, but some users couldn't connect to the database across the network (TCP/IP) and were rejected with error -951: User username is not known on the database server. I finally found out that for those users where this problem was occuring, the environment variable DBMONEY was still set. Unsetting this environment variable fixes the problem. What gives?
