TEXT datatype?

THANKS to all who responded to my question.....I believe my answer comes from Jonathan who points to a defect that exists in the 4.12 version of ISQL that I am using.....but I have not verified this yet. My original posting was TOO brief since it did not explain that by the time I needed to test the TEXT field for NULL, I had already selected it. My report script always SELECTs the TEXT field, along with all the other stuff I want to printout. What I am dealing with is the available commands in the FORMAT section of the ace report writer. Yes, I can **SELECT** NULL or NOT NULL TEXT fields just fine. Also, if I'm happy with printing out a blank line in my report when the TEXT field is NULL, this works too.....all I wanted to do was include a simple text string, "****NONE****", in place of the blank line when there was nothing there! I have done this routinely with other reports, using regular CHAR fields and VARCHAR fields, but the identical syntax fails to work with TEXT fields. Thanks, again!
