Hi gurus,
I'm using VMWARE with RED HAT 4.4 in a notebook with 2 GB of RAM - Win XP
Professional.
All of these VMW is builting with 512 MB of RAM.
I prepared a teste instance with IDS 11.10.UC2 and in one of the VMW I executed
the steps:
ontape -s -L 0 (TAPEDEV to disk in a "standard" or 'standalone' instance)FTP of the file of level 0 backup to other VMW (in disk)
ontape -p (in the second VMW) and at the end:defined the first as th primary instance
(onmode -d primary <instance secondary>)
defining the second VMW as the secondary instance - HDR
(onmode -d secondary <instance primary>)
FTP of level 0 backup to a third VMW (in disk)
ontape -p (in the third VMW) and at the end:defined the first as th primary instance
(onmode -d add RSS <instance rss in the thirt VMW>)
defining the RSS instance in VMW as the RSS instance
(onmode -d RSS <instance primary>)
All of these steps were running Ok ...
After that, I bring offline all instances in order:
1-RSS instance
2-Secondary instance
3-Primary instance
After that, I tried to start all instances and at the first step in the
"primary
instance", I got the following error:

Has somebody got the same error???
I guess it's a Bug , but you know if there is a fix, already ?
All helps are welcome.
I restored all instances , and after I repeat all of the steps and the
instances
were running ok until take offline... the error occurs again when try to start.
Thanks folks and best regards.

Wait, but if you restored all of these instances on the same box under
different VMs, weren't they sharing the same disk chunks? Didn't each
restore just overwrite the existing data on disk (admittedly with the
same data)? Maybe that's why the startup detection when you tried to
restart the primary thought that it was an SDS secondary and it couldn't
find a primary running? Did you rename the chunks for each instance
during the restores? If not, I think you have to restore the original
primary's archive again and start the whole process over again.

Art,
Thanks for your answer.
At each VMWare "machine" has its own set of disks.
It's a very little instance , the "backup file" built by a "ontape -s -L 0"
have size: 29.4 MB.
Each virtual machine has a set of disks: PLEASE, TAKE A LOOK OF THE
FOLLOWING....
Take look: host vmware-48 is the 'primary', hostname vmware-51 is 'secondary'
and
vmware-52 is the 'RSS' instance.
