Informix tries just a few times to access a chunk and with no } response will mark this chunk as Down. I have found several times } that it could be as simple as turning an external disk unit back on } or someone with root permissions has changed the chunks ownerships } from informix. } These are problems that I can fix very easily but must still place a } call with Informix support. Dealing with informix support is a lesson } in patience all its own. It generally takes longer for First Level } Support to write up the incident and give me a case number than it } takes to fix the problem. Granted Informix suport has saved my } backside more than once and I do appreciate having them for a last } line of support but simple recognizable tasks could be performed by } my support group on a much more timely basis. } For those of you that think that all tbzero does is mark down chunks as available you are sorely mistaken and that is exactly the reason that tbzero does not belong in the public domain. Enough on this thread...it aint gonna become available and that's all there is to it... tbzero was never meant to be fix for DBA or SysAdmin oversights. MIchael
