I suspect that Barry may be correct in that the problem could be OS related. I don't know the differences in HPUX 9 and 10 but I'll bet 10 has much better multi-threading support and that may be the key to this performance issue. another possibility would be to try turning off multiprocessor support for that Informix instance. It is likely that the overhead carried by the processor context info switching and stuff is greater than just running it in single CPU mode and letting HPUX work both processors.
