IDS 12.1 Installs without jvm library files
Bob asked whether installing IDS 12.1 without the bundled JRE/JVM files under $INFORMIXDIR/jvm causes problems. Andreas Legner (IBM) answered that the bundled Java is only needed for Java UDRs / Java-in-the-server; if no JVP ever runs on an instance, the JVM files aren't used, and he knew of no built-in JUDRs that require them. I don't know of any. If you never had a jvp running on a particular instance, that instance never needed any of the bundled java/jvm. Hi Andreas, We have not leveraged that functionality up to this point. Is Informix 12.1 dependent on using the IBM Java SDK? I was wondering if we could create a symbolic link to direct JDK references to our Open JDK libraries we install.
