RE: AW: AW: From the IIUG Insider ...

Right and that was part of the point. AFLAC (American Family Life and Casualty) not to be confused with American Family Insurance has had an effective series of commericals which have created a high Q rating. That is, if you walk down the streets of any town in the US, the odds are you'll get 90% of the people you as, if they know what AFLAC is. If you asked the same about IBM, you would get a fairly high number. But if you asked anything about IBM or its divisions? Sorry, you're out of luck. And that's part of the frustrating point. If you knew about all of the IDS customers (big and small), you'd wonder why the industry hasn't given IDS any press. Even the Tech Press things that IBM only has DB2. Now I hope you can appreciate why I'm frustrated. Its not that IDS is a bad product. Its just that you have a good product, but poor support from the business side of the house. But that's par for IBM. Subject: AW: AW: From the IIUG Insider ... That is the big part missing from IBM, I don´t think anybody outside IBM / Informix is able to tell you what INFORMIX is and what Informix is doing, except from what can be read in the ad itself (database 24/7). So the ad is nice, beautiful to look at, but you can't remember any facts that make you buy INFORMIX except that INFORMIX is one more database with 24/7 on the market. regards, Joerg Volz And that says a lot, doesn't it? Lets contrast this with the AFLAC duck commercials. There they have a really high Q rating. But not as many people know what is AFLAC. I'm not sure how this plays in other countries outside of the US and Japan. The other season of giving begins 6/24/08. Check out the i’m Talkathon. Check it out!
