This is OK if the database(s) from machine B are to be separate to those
of machine A. However if (as I read it) the two datasets are to be merged,
then after the original ontape -s / -r (assuming identical IDS versions
and binary compatible OS versions !!) then the only way to merge the data
would be unload to flat files and then reload to extend the existing tables
(or create new ones in the same database).

Thanks for all of the questions/answers.
I was expecting the initial answer that Art gave about
dbexport/dbimport.
I hadn't specified database names in my initial message and completely
understand Keith's thoughts of unload/load if that were the case.
This should help greatly in moving forward with the project.
Sorry about the confusion with the AIX version. I've been using
Solaris machines for the most part and uname -a gave a different result
format on AIX, so I put the specific options on the command line.
oslevel (not available on Solaris and an unknown command to me prior to
this) indeed returns 5.2.0.0.
