I just felt the need to point out that DB2 is not a poor subset of IDS and delivers good features on its own. Naturally I hope that IDS will some day implement DB2 features. Synchronizing externals is part of being family. Anyway to give a one paragraph description of select from DML. The feature allows you to put INSERT, DELETE and UPDATE into the FROM clause. The semantics are that the trigger transition tables (the set of changed or original rows) become available for further processing. E.g. SELECT SUM(salary) FROM NEW TABLE(UPDATE emp SET salary = salary + 100) GROUP BY dept; would returns you the salary cost by department for after given each employee a 100 dollar raise. BTW, I usually don't comment on people's pseudonyms, but it's very hard to take your questions serious. May be a change to a less irritating pseudonym would be in order? Many of enor's questions seem to be a bit too sly, and the "bad enleesh and bad spolling" just a wee bit too bad. Looks more like a deliberate effort to mislead and play the goose, with the occasional real question slipping out. Sorry Enor, but wethinks you are trying to play games sometimes. Other people have commented...
