H. I suppose that you should take a version of Linux with kernel 2.4, or even 2.2. I have no experience with kernel 2.2. I can recommend 2.4.21 from the 2.4 kernel branch. For example, SuSE Professional 9.0 included 2.4.21 kernel and was good platform for IDS 9.3 and 9.4. I would be surprised if IDS 9.21 would work with kernel 2.6 out of the box. I suppose your version of IDS is out of support now, so don't worry if you take unsupported distro of Linux, like Debian, Ubuntu etc :) AFAIK, IBM supports only SuSE and Red Hat. I recommend you to start with reading release notes and other documents in "release" subdirectory of your $INFORMIXDIR. There you should get some info on the prerequisites of your release of IDS. This is true, and specifically - and in the true spirit of the Open Source movement - only the versions you have to pay for!
