Informix Dynamic Server Software Downloads
Posted in 2009
A user couldn't locate the Informix Dynamic Server download links on IBM's Passport Advantage site, though DB2 and solidDB were visible. The advice given: what you see depends on maintenance contract status, personal settings and download history; navigate via Software Downloads -> Download Finder -> View all my downloads -> View by Brand, then expand Information Management and look for Informix. If it's still missing while maintenance is active, use the site feedback links. Fix Central was suggested as an easier alternative download route. The poster said he'd try it; no confirmation of success was posted.

It appears IBM has cleverly hidden the IDS downloads again on the Passport Advantage Website, at least from my prying eyes. I can find the Solid DB and the DB2 links just fine. Does anyone out there in IIUG-land with a Passport Advantage account know where IBM has stashed the download links? Joe
Hello, Passport advantage can indeed be a challenge... What you see depends on a set of conditions which include but are not limited to: Your maintenace contract status, personal settings, download history etc. What I usually do is go into: Software Downloads -> Download Finder -> View all my downloads -> View by Brand and then expand Information Management. Look for Informix* If you don't find and your maintenance is active, please use the feedback links and ask for help. The product is there. It's probably not easy to find. If it serves as consolation I can assure you I've been through that with other IBM products. Regards. Thanks, I will check it out. Everytime I think I have one of their sites figured out, they change it . ________________________________________ From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Fernando Nunes [domusonline@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, October 26, 2009 6:05 PM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: Informix Dynamic Server Software Downloads [17751] Hello, Passport advantage can indeed be a challenge... I wouldn't call it a mess, but you can of course doubt my objectivity... I had problems with PA in the past. Once it was a maintenance issue, another it was a temporary glitch which made some products "invisible" and the other (hopefully) was similar to the current situation. A product was apparently not there but going to the "all downloads" I could find it. The impression I get, and I honestly don't know the reality, is that PA has a very complex backoffice... I don't recall seeing PA down for example. The download speed is very nice. The Download manager although not very fancy works well... I guess it's hard to incorporate all the new products (coming from all the acquisitions) well integrated into a common system. But the reality remains... PA raises several usage issues from customers. By the way, you may opt for Fix Central for downloading purposes... I'd say it's easier to find the products.... Regards. You go to page 1. Make 4 selections. Jump to the login page. Click 1 time. Go to another page. Click. Accept license. You're downloading. 1 login... Regards.
