I don't know if it's the best configuration, so I'd like to hear any comments. We use Veritas to manage 6 SSA 101's. Typically we create logical volumes striped across 3 disks with the 124k stripe. We also fragment tables by expression and in some cases by round robin(largest by expression). We also detach and fragment our indices. We go to great lengths to isolate these tables and indexes from each other to avoid disk contention. On top of all this, we mirror the database using Informix mirroring. We are running informix 7.13 on Solaris 2.4. The system is used for a data warehouse so we configure for decision support: PDQ=2 OPTCOMPIND=0. Any and all feedback is welcome.
